This week’s Grave of the Week is Donald Knudson. Don was born in 1925 in Nebraska and passed away in 2021, at age 96.
In 1943, at age 18, Don joined the Army and served in WWII. He was a flight mechanic and gunner. He flew 13 missions out of Lyon, France with the 34th Bombardment Squadron.
After the war and graduating from the University of Nebraska, Don and his wife Nancy, moved to Exeter. Don taught at Exeter Union High for 29 years. He was the work experience coordinator and the auto and metal shop teacher.
Don retired in 1982 and grew grapefruit and avocados on his farm. He was active in the Exeter Kiwanis Club and the Presbyterian church.
Nancy, his wife of 57 years, preceded him in death. He was survived by his 2 children.
