This week’s Grave of the Week is Freda Van Ness. Freda was born in Tennessee in 1924, and passed away in 2019, at 94 years old.
After moving with her family to Exeter, Freda graduated from Exeter Union High and worked briefly for the local phone company. In 1949, she married Emery Max Van Ness. Max was the sole proprietor of Van Ness Air Conditioning as well as a real estate developer and investor. Freda kept all the company books while also keeping their family home and raising their children.
Freda was humble but had a “fierce determination to have things done the right way.” She was said to be a perfect partner to her husband and a loving parent. She lived a long and good life.
She was survived by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
