This week’s Grave of the Week is in honor of Major League Baseball’s All-Star Week. Our feature this week was a professional left-handed pitcher from 2002 to 2004. He made his Major League debut on September 2, 2002, for the Houston Astros. He appeared in 11 games that season. In 2003, he joined Houston’s starting rotation. That season, he set a franchise record for most wins by a rookie, a record he still holds. He finished 7th in the National League Rookie of the Year voting. He was later traded to Cleveland after Houston signed Roger Clemens and Andy Pettitte.

The Astros signed our pitcher right out of Exeter High School. While a Monarch, he helped lead the Monarchs to the Central Section Championship.

Astros star Lance Berkman said, “He won 15 games for us. That’s what I remember about him that year. He was solid every time out.”

His professional career ended in 2007 after various debuts in the minor and Mexican leagues. He unfortunately passed away in a motorcycle accident in 2010.

You may have noticed by now that I have not shared a grave picture or a name. I would like the public to participate this week and share your love and knowledge of our community by sharing, in the comments, if you know who this week’s Grave of the Week is. If you would like to share your own picture of his grave, please do so. Visit him this week and tell him about the All-Star Game. Please don’t just Google the answer—share your own personal knowledge of Exeter. Please share your stories and memories in the comments too.

I will share his name and picture on Wednesday.

Comment if you know of anyone who should be featured on Grave of the Week. Please include any information about the person’s life and where the grave is located.

Please continue to like, share, and follow the Exeter Cemetery District and thank you to Exeter Chamber of Commerce, Exeter Kiwanis, Kiwanis Club Of Farmersville, Kiwanis of Woodlake, The Sun-Gazette Newspaper, The City of Exeter for sharing.
