This week’s Grave of the Week is Jose Guadalupe Salazar, or Lupe to his family and friends. He was born in Mexico and came to the US in 1947. In 1965, Lupe enlisted in the Marine Corps to serve his new home. He later transferred to the US Army reserves and remained a reserve until he retired. You can see the Marine banner proudly displayed above his stone.
Lupe worked for the Central California Tristeza Agency for 30 years before retiring. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and camping. He and his wife made regular trips to El Salvador too. He was a talented musician too. He taught himself the accordion and keyboard, learning to play by ear.
Lupe loved to be with his family and going to church. He was survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; all of whom love and miss him dearly.
Please share any happy memories you have of Lupe and share his story with the community.
