Officer Vazquez-Perez

On June 18, 2024

This week’s grave of the week is Roberto “Beto” Vazquez-Perez. Roberto was only 37 when he died in 2004. Roberto battled kidney problems since the age of 9. He had a kidney transplant which gave him 25 more years. However, he fought cancer three times before eventually returning to the Lord. He served as a police officer for the Farmersville Police Department.

When his daughter graduated from Exeter High School in 2016, she was greeted with a line of officers and deputies from Farmersville, Exeter, Visalia, Woodlake, Grover Beach and Tulare County who knew her father, worked with him, or just heard his story. Roberto’s brother serves as a Sergeant with the Farmersville Police Department.

Roberto’s grave reads “Dios vio que estabas sufriendo y te dijo, ven conmigo y encontrarás alivio”, which translates to, “God saw that you were suffering and he said, come with me and you will find relief.” Roberto’s life sounds as if it was filled with suffering but, at the same time, was filled with an immense amount of love, respect, and admiration.

If Roberto’s family reads this, please know the community still remembers Roberto and is honored to tell his story again.

If you knew Roberto, or know his family, please comment and share your fond memories.
